Sustainability at the Swissôtel Nankai Osaka

The Green Globe recognises the sustainable practices that Swissôtel Nankai Osaka has been implementing in its operations. These include using sustainable seafood throughout all restaurants, maintaining relationships and sourcing/purchasing from local businesses (within 160 kilometres or 100 miles), and conserving an in-house vertical garden that grows a selection of herbs, vegetables and edible flowers used in applicable culinary operations. These are just some of the efforts to help eliminate and reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.

Swissôtel Nankai Osaka proudly collaborates with brands that have similar sustainable values, including Dilmah and Nespresso. Through Dilmah producing the first ethical tea committed to sustainability and with 93% of Nespresso coffee being sustainably sourced with a 32% globally used coffee recycling rate, both brands closely share the hotel’s core sustainable beliefs. The hotel continues its efforts not only within the hotel but also in the community, in partnership with Consul General Voltaire Mauricio of the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka. By donating items and amenities to the local charity Philippine Cares Calamity Assistance Rehabilitation Efforts Services, scheduled donations from the hotel not only promote waste reduction, but also support the local community.

“As the first ACCOR property in Japan to receive this recognition, we are deeply committed to continue paving the way for implementing practices that not only involve the hotel, but with the communities and partners that we work with,” added General Manager Shane Edwards.

Swissôtel Nankai Osaka prioritises engaging team members in sustainable efforts. The hotel conducts staff trainings on reducing energy and water consumption as part of sustainability orientation and promoting ethical practices with reuse and recycling initiatives active around the property.
